    Hi life_thrills,
You can install base programs (like those associated with Windows), but installing other applications (like say Adobe programs) needs to be done by reinstalling because the applications are associated with your other OS on the previous partition. Make sure you check each of the programs you’re looking to reinstall to make sure you’re following their rules for multiple installations.

No. Because software adds entries into the registry and may add files to c:windowssystem32 and other places, it is impossible to copy most programs from one drive to another.
This prevents people from illegally copying software, but also makes the kind of thing you want to do impossible.
Unfortunately you will have to reinstall the programs using the original disk.

There is no way. You have to install the programs on your new partition. Printers, for example, often have one download for XP and a slightly different download for Vista/Windows 7. It might be dangerous to simply copy from one to the other

  4. It depends on the “software”. If it’s a stand-alone App like SIW, for example, then (maybe) yes.
Otherwise, you must download the Vista version and install it on W7.
If no Vista version, try the XP version, but there are no promises of success, some run; some don’t.

Im not sure what your asking but.
If your trying to copy already installed programs from OS to another it’s not gonna happen. If your trying to copy a partition you could use imaging software to do it.

No. All you get to copy are the basic programs. The required library files loaded elsewhere, and the registry entries need setting up. This is what the installer does.
